Whilst in London the other day it was suggested we go to Selfridges for a bit of shopping and afternoon tea. The lingerie department is always a must of course.

I was a little hesitant at first about the afternoon tea bit, as having already experienced tea at the Ritz, which was out of this world, i thought it was going to be a bit mediocre.

But as a huge fan of the recent series Mr Selfridge, and i wanted to shop anyway, tea would be a fitting end to the day.

The moment we walked in the door a very friendly man asked if we needed any help, clearly we looked bemused, we didn’t know which way to go first. And yes he was an employee by the way.

“Tea” i said, “we want to go to your best eating place to have tea”

“Dolly’s” he said without hesitation “but you might have to queue” and queue we did, although we were given the menu to browse over while we were waiting (not really a fan of doing that but i suppose we weren’t at some fancy restaurant eh!)

There were all sorts of delights, cream tea , scones, cakes, pastries, sandwiches salads and all washed down with tea or Champagne. Then we spotted the Mr Selfridge Tea….

Ok maybe you might be thinking a bit pricey for tea but hey, we were hungry. It wasn’t long before we were shown to our seats, and ordered possibly the largest thing on the menu!

It was absolutely superb and the staff were very attentive, oh and I have never tasted an eclair like it, i dream about it!
